Interesting how this is making the news now. Not long ago, a new interface for PC gaming was announced that uses thoughts to control the on-screen gameplay. In that case, there is a considerable amount of work to be done still in terms of accuracy. However, the device should be ready by the end of the year with games being worked on right now.
This patent was filed on 23 October 2004 – that’s nearly three years ago, indicating that the research must have been going on for a number of years prior to that.
Interestingly, it quotes the earlier patent from 1974 – Bio-Feedback Apparatus (US patent #3,821,949), which in turn stems from work on the Electrical Stimulation Collar in 1962 (US patent #3,032,029) and other heart monitoring devices.
In other words, mind control research of the 1960’s.
